Mike McCarthy was at the top of this list for most intriguing coaches for the upcoming season.
1. Mike McCarthy, Green Bay: How would you like to be this guy? He has spent the last month talking about a quarterback that will never play for him again. And he has put his trust and possibly his career with the team with a guy who McCarthy thinks is the future of the franchise but has never been in charge. And if it is possible to forget about Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers then he can think about his top running back Ryan [...]

Packers Tell Favre To Stay Home
Favre Goes Through With Promise
Brett Favre signed and faxed in his reinstatement papers today. This now gives the Packers 24 hours until the commish renistates him and another 24 hours to decide if they will release him or not.
Brett Favre followed through on his statements that he wanted to come out of retirement by faxing his reinstatement letter to the NFL on Tuesday.
Favre sent the letter to the league office late Tuesday afternoon and also spoke by phone with commissioner Roger Goodell, who indicated he will not act on Tuesday in hopes the Packers and Favre can reach a resolution during the next 24 [...]
Training Camp Opens Today
Green Bay Packers training camp opens today. Unfortunately, I will not be here to give you info, as I will be on a blogging-free vacation, July 28-August 11. During this time, Kansas City Chiefs bloggers Adam and Zach will be posting every once in a while here, and who knows who else will be. Don’t worry, Adam and Zach are not as inept as their franchise.
I plan on keeping a running diary while on vacation that will be published on my return.
If there is an absolute EMERGENCY or BREAKING NEWS!!, such as a Brett Favre trade, I may, and that’s [...]
McCarthy Speaks
Yesterday, head coach Mike McCarthy had a press conference and answered many questions. Mostly about Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. That has been stated over and over again. I hope we can finally understand that. That’s where we are as an organization; that’s where we are as head coach of the Green Bay Packers.
That’s probably the most noteworthy quote from the conference. You can read the rest here. It’s just a bunch of reporters trying to get McCarthy to say something about Favre.
I’m not sure if all of you have witnessed the travesty now gracing the airwaves. Basically, it’s a new DirecTV commercial that has Jimmy Kimmel walking around and talking about Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and his record-breaking rushing performance against the San Diego Chargers last season. I’m cool with that, except for the adjective Kimmel uses. The exact adjective used is escaping me, but I believe it was either “smashed” or “crushed.”
Whoa whoa whoa, Jimmy.
The old record was set by Jamal Lewis, then playing for the Baltimore Ravens against his future team, the Cleveland Browns. [...]
Things Coming Full Circle?
Are things coming full circle for Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre? It appears so with the report on ESPN.com from Chris Mortensen that the New York Jets have received permission to talk to Favre. So I say this:
Trade Favre. To the Jets.
It works out perfectly. The Jets need a quarterback. Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens have not been getting the job done. Clemens has shown flashes of brilliance, but he is not ready to take over an NFL team now. Maybe in a few years. After Favre retires. New York is not an NFC team. They have the talent [...]
Favre’s Return Imminent
According to NFL.com’s Adam Schefter, Packers quarterback Brett Favre will report to training camp Sunday, July 27, 2008 and is expected to submit a letter of reinstatement to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Apparently Goodell has had a hand in Favre’s comeback. The commish had been in contact with GM Ted Thompson and reportedly urged the villified-in-some-circles GM to find a trading partner for Favre. Sounds like Favre has a fan in Goodell, along with John Madden, Chris Berman, and ESPN. And Peter King.
Green Bay Packers training camp is about to become the set of the next Disney Channel [...]
A Shareholder’s POV
Blogging over at FanNation has really introduced me to a lot of interesting people. DEVO is one of them. He also happens to be a Green Bay Packers shareholder. He recently wrote this blog detailing his experience at the recent shareholder’s meeting. An excerpt:
“Here’s what I stated: ‘Look, I understand, we all do, about what Favre helped do to make the Packers a great team for so many years. But think about it this way. Lombardi quit the Packers to take a front office job, and after a year he left to go back east to coach the Redskins. He [...]
