How many offensive linemen will the Packers draft?

The fourth round has always been fertile ground for Ted Thompson.

Consider the offensive linemen he has selected in that round: David Bakhtiari, Josh Sitton and T.J. Lang. Only Bryan Bulaga was a first round pick by the Packers. The other starter, center Corey Linsley, was a fifth round selection.

And with Bakhtiari, Sitton and Lang all being eligible for free agency following the 2016 season the Packers will surely have to beef up on that position in the coming days.

The question is just how many offensive linemen Thompson can add among his current nine picks.

My guess is that he will use at least one of those three, fourth round picks on an offensive lineman … maybe even two of those picks.

Getting the big guys for the offensive side of the ball is an important task. Though it’s clearly not as sexy as drafting a wide receiver, running back or quarterback, drafting offensive linemen is the nuts and bolts that hold the team together.

Expect Thompson  to be busy looking at the beef between tonight and Saturday night … and beyond. Thompson will most likely also look at signing undrafted free agent offensive linemen.

Like cornerbacks, you can’t have enough of the big guys on the team.
