5. Malik Jefferson, ILB, Texas

I know it’s not the Packers style to select an inside linebacker in the first round, but Jefferson is a special talent at the position.

He has the speed and athleticism to run sideline-to-sidlien and chase down ball carriers, or he can drop in coverage and make plays on the ball. His size (6-3, 240) also allows him to take on blocks and defend the run between the tackles.

On top of all this, he’s also an effective blitzer and can rush off the edge in certain packages. In the past two seasons he has recorded nine sacks and seven hurries for the Longhorns.

The Texas native is a unique three-tool linebacker that can stay on the field in every situation. Lined up alongside Blake Martinez, he could really upgrade the interior of the Packers defense and give them a true playmaker at the second level.

Jefferson would also bring a little thump to a Packers defense that needs to form an identity.
