4. Darnell Savage

Speed, vision and play-making ability, Darnell Savage seems to have it all. Just like Preston Smith, Savage has been involved on turnover plays in back-to-back weeks.

A week after deflecting a pass into the arms of Preston Smith, Savage was there to haul in a wayward pass by Joe Flacco for his first career interception. The play was slightly negated with the original call being an incomplete pass. Since the original ruling was incomplete and overturned after a review, the return yardage was wiped out and the ball placed back at the point of the interception, about a 15-yard difference.

Regardless, the Broncos were driving for what could have been a game-tying score, and that was stopped by Savage.

Savage’s speed doesn’t just show up in coverage. He comes downhill fast in the run game and hits hard.

The tandem of Adrian Amos and Savage is as good as the Packers have had in some time. Amos doesn’t have the same skill set as Savage, but what he does and who he is complements Savage and his abilities well.

The more playing time he gets, the better he will be. Savage has made some impact plays in the first three weeks, but he has also missed a couple. This isn’t to be nitpicky, it’s simply to point out how good he can be once it all comes together.
