Packers: Five players to watch vs. Eagles in Week 4
By Jesse Fry
2. Davante Adams
Another player Aaron Rodgers mentioned needing to get more targets is his number one receiver, Davante Adams.
It’s hard to believe, but Adams doesn’t have a single touchdown this season. In fact, of the three games the Packers played this season, Adams only has one 100-yard game.
Rodgers feels there has not been enough effort to get the ball to his top playmaker. Sound familiar? Last year after the Buffalo Bills game, Rodgers criticized the play-calling and game plan for not force-feeding the ball to Adams. That was the beginning of the end for Coach McCarthy.
That’s not to say that is going to happen to LaFleur, but Rodgers is very calculated with what he says to the media. And you’d have to believe after a statement like that, the new head coach will find a way to get the ball to his best playmaker.
The Eagles have a banged-up secondary and they might be ripe for the picking. It was in 2016 against these same Eagles that Adams announced his presence as a true number one receiver. In that game, Adams had five catches for 113 yards and two touchdowns. I’ve got a feeling Adams might have similar numbers Thursday night.
