3. Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks

If the Packers are willing to spend big to land one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, Tyler Lockett is a player they should consider making a trade offer for.

The Seattle Seahawks ended an era by trading Russell Wilson and releasing Bobby Wagner, two key players in a decade of success in Seattle. With the Seahawks starting over, maybe they would be willing to listen to offers for their 29-year-old wide receiver.

Lockett has put together three straight 1,000-yard seasons and has at least eight receiving touchdowns in each of those three years.

Lockett is also an excellent deep threat. He averaged 16.1 yards per reception in 2021. According to Pro Football Focus, “Lockett’s 20 deep receptions and 740 deep receiving yards both led the position by a comfortable margin”.

In terms of contract, Lockett has a manageable cap hit of $10.1 million in 2022, per Spotrac. With the cap space they created in the Davante Adams trade, the Packers could afford to take on Lockett’s deal this year.

In Lockett, the Packers would be getting a reliable wide receiver who can stretch defenses deep. At his best, Lockett can be one of the top pass catchers in the NFL.

If GM Brian Gutekunst is serious about adding a veteran receiver, Lockett is one of two Seahawks receivers he should be interested in. We’ll come on to the second shortly.
