Edge rushers (5)

Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, Kingsley Enagbare, Randy Ramsey, Tipa Galeai

There’s no doubting the talent of the Packers’ starting edge rushers.

Rashan Gary was tied for fourth in the NFL for pressures and tied for third in hurries last season, according to Pro Football Reference. He also made a career-best 9.5 sacks.

Gary dominated in the NFC divisional round loss to the San Francisco 49ers, making two sacks, three quarterback hits, and three tackles for loss.

The former first-round pick is a rising star. Gary will be one of the best pass rushers in the NFL this season if he continues to improve.

Smith also impressed in 2021 with nine sacks and 28 pressures, both numbers close to the career-bests he set in 2019.

Where the Packers needed to improve was the depth behind them.

They went a way to doing that by selecting Kingsley Enagbare in the fifth round. Pro Football Focus gave the pick an elite grade, noting that “Enagbare was one of the highest-graded pass-rushers in the country over the past two seasons.”

Where the Packers could look to strengthen is by signing a veteran pass rusher, as they did by bringing in Whitney Mercilus last season.

Enagbare certainly helps the pass-rush depth, but the Packers should consider signing an affordable free agent over the summer.
