Week 6: New York Jets

Interestingly, the Packers aren’t on bye week following the London game.

The New York Jets might have “won” the draft by adding cornerback Sauce Gardner, wide receiver Garrett Wilson, and edge rusher Jermaine Johnson in the first round, but they are still a long way off competing in the AFC.

Any given Sunday, of course, but the Packers should be strong favorites in this game.

New York has gone a way to fixing its defense in the draft, but it will not become a top unit in one offseason. A year ago, the Jets’ defense ranked last in the league for points allowed, giving up 29.6 points per game.

The key for Green Bay will be to make life difficult for second-year quarterback Zach Wilson.

Wilson had just nine touchdown passes with 13 interceptions last season. If the Packers’ defense can generate pressure on Wilson, it could lead to some turnover opportunities.

Sauce Gardner helps the Jets’ secondary, but the Packers should still find success against this defense.

The Jets look to have put together a strong draft class this year, one that could help them build for the future. But New York is unlikely to be anywhere near playoff contention in the short term.

At Lambeau Field, the Packers should get the job done.

Prediction: Green Bay 30, New York 7 (5-1)
