2. EDGE Clay Matthews

One of the Green Bay Packers’ greatest pass rushers of all time, there’s no way Clay Matthews couldn’t make this list.

Green Bay also happens to need some pass-rush depth. It has two excellent starters in Rashan Gary and Preston Smith, but not much else. The Packers did draft Kingsley Enagbare in the fifth round, but it remains to be seen how much he will contribute in year one.

At his best, Matthews was one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. He is a six-time Pro Bowler, two-time All-Pro, and Super Bowl champion.

How would Clay Matthews help 2022 Packers?

Big-time defensive plays.

In his prime, Matthews would be an instant starter in this defense and one of the best defensive players on the team.

Matthews made 83.5 sacks in his 10-year career with the Packers. He added another 11 in the postseason and helped Green Bay to a Super Bowl title in 2010. His forced fumble proved to be a defining moment as the Packers beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the big game.

Prime Matthews would be a game-changer in the 2022 Packers defense. Not only does he get sacks, but he also forced 15 fumbles and made 121 tackles for loss in his Green Bay career.

A starting pass-rush duo of Matthews and Gary? Look out.
