Aaron Rodgers' Jets signing another former Packers player is the funniest one yet
By Ryan Heckman
Over the past couple of years, Green Bay Packers fans have watched as their former quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, has seemingly taken a strong hold on his new team. The New York Jets have made several moves since acquiring Rodgers, and many of them have had strong ties to Rodgers and/or the Packers.
The Jets had already brought in names like Randall Cobb, Billy Turner, Tim Boyle, Adrian Amos in addition to Nathaniel Hackett, Allen Lazard and Davante Adams. Obviously, the Adams trade was the big one in recent weeks, and that move hasn't exactly equated to turning their season around.
On Friday morning, New York went out and signed another former Packer. This one, though, didn't have a connection with Rodgers, which makes the signing even funnier.
The Jets signed former Packers kicker Anders Carlson to their practice squad. He recently kicked for the San Francisco 49ers.
Yep, the guy Packers fans couldn't wait to get rid of -- that one. He's a Jet, now.
New York's kicking issues have driven fans nuts this year, after watching Greg Zuerlein struggle for so long to begin the season. They just can't get the position right. So, they've begun what looks like a kicking carousel, and it shouldn't be long until the Jets are looking elsewhere, yet again.
It might not take long for the Jets to get sick of Anders Carlson
Last season, Carlson was the thorn in Packers fans' side. This is a kicker who would come out and hit a 50-yard field goal but turn around, later in the game, and miss an extra point which would ultimately cost his team in the end.
If you want an erratic, inconsistent kicker whom you'll never know what you're going to get out of, then Carlson is your guy.
More Packers
It only took one game for Carlson to miss an extra point with the 49ers in his limited time with them, this season, which was comic gold for Packer fans. Oddly enough, he spent another game with San Francisco before they cut him loose.
If Jets fans were already frustrated with Zuerlein, things aren't about to get much better if Carlson gets an opportunity.
Green Bay fans can't help but sit back and just laugh at the Jets' misfortune since landing Rodgers. There's something about seeing an organization view him as the team's savior, only to go on and endure complete and utter catastrophe since the move.
Signing Carlson only furthers that narrative, too, which we'll all still be laughing about in a week or two when New York cuts him loose.
