In a week filled with wild internet rumors and troll posts about the Green Bay Packers' interest in trading for Micah Parsons, Adam Schefter is here to cut through the noise.

And it's a significant update that directly impacts the Packers' potential pursuit of the Dallas Cowboys' all-world pass-rusher.

UPDATE: The Packers have traded for Micah Parsons. Full details here.

"Several teams have spoken to the Dallas Cowboys about a potential Micah Parsons' trade and for the first time the Cowboys appear willing to at least listen, according to multiple sources," the report from ESPN's Schefter, Todd Archer, and Dan Graziano reads.

"No trade is imminent, but another team always could be aggressive enough to make it come together quickly, per sources," it adds.

Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have pushed the door open, with the ESPN report adding that a Parsons trade has "become a stronger possibility in recent days than it has been at any point during this process."

Packers insider sheds light on the team's interest in a Micah Parsons trade

Schefter didn't name any specific teams but noted several would have interest. We can emphatically add the Packers into the mix.

Per Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated, the Packers have legitimate interest.

"The Packers are interested in trading for Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons. Perhaps very interested in trading for Parsons," writes Huber. "Their purported interest in one player or another has been used by teams and agents for leverage countless times over years. The feeling around the league is this time is different."

It's yet another notable development.

A trade for Parsons won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination. He is a four-time Pro Bowler entering the prime of his career. The Cowboys won't give up on him easily, and they won't want to give him away to an NFC rival like the Packers.

But the Packers have the resources to make an offer to test Jerry Jones' resolve.

Multiple first-rounders? Other premium picks? The Packers have the draft capital to make the blockbuster offer Dallas may look for. Remember, for all of Green Bay's usual cautiousness in the trade market, GM Brian Gutekunst tried to make a deal for Khalil Mack before he joined the Chicago Bears. It wouldn't be Gutekunst's first swing at a game-changing trade.

Cap space? The Packers have more than enough flexibility to absorb the record-shattering contract Parsons wants.

It could cost Green Bay the ability to retain some of next year's free agents — perhaps Quay Walker, Christian Watson, and Rasheed Walker depart. Maybe it prevents the Packers from extending Jayden Reed in the coming years.

But the idea of a franchise-changing acquisition might be too tough to ignore.

The challenge is making an offer so strong that the Cowboys willingly part ways with their best player, while also negotiating a long-term deal to Parsons' liking.

It's bold. It's brave. It's very unlike the Packers. But it's also the championship move that could define this era of Packers football.

Brett Favre had Reggie White. Aaron Rodgers had Charles Woodson. If Jones pushes the door open wide enough, Gutekunst needs to go get Micah Parsons for Jordan Love.
