Christian Watson's dad calls out Packers on social media for 2024 NFL Draft mistake

OK then!

It's been a big week for NFC North Sports Dads.

First, it was in Chicago. Tyson Bagent – the Bears' backup quarterback – is currently in the middle of a mini-controversy involving his dad and some weird fake rumors. He's supposedly going around to certain Chicago radio stations and telling people that Bears veterans asked coaches to bench Caleb Williams, and that said coaches considered it. You know, classic Dad behavior.

Every sports dad must have met recently and decided to create maximum chaos because now it's spread to Green Bay. Christian Watson's dad got on Twitter recently and, for no apparent reason, decided to go after the Packers for not taking cornerback Cooper DeJean in this year's NFL Draft. And I know what you're thinking, but nope, you're not missing any context – it really, truly is exactly as random as it sounds.

Christian Watson's dad has some very specific thoughts about the Packers' 2024 Draft

This is such a Dad post for so many reasons. It's got everything: weirdly-aggressive all-caps sentences, non-ironic hashtags, and pointless ellipses. In a sense, it's a work of modern art. Only parents tweet like this now, and once they stop, it'll be gone forever.

He also went on to kinda throw shade at Packers' offensive lineman Jordan Morgan, who they decided to take instead of DeJean. Morgan hasn't played up to his potential yet, and the Packers' glaring need at cornerback makes the decision to take him not look super great right now.

But also, I don't know, maybe don't publicly criticize your son's employer and teammates at the same time? I guess you could argue that since Watson's dad was drafted by the team, he's just a former player voicing his frustration with the team's choices. I'm sure he'd say that, in fact.

Maybe DeJean makes the Packers regret their decisions, and maybe Morgan plays well enough that they don't. The wonderful thing about being a Sports Dad (I assume) is that it doesn't matter. You just get to Tweet wild things whenever you want. I kinda get the appeal.
