The grass is not always greener on the other side, but where you water it. How many examples of players leaving Green Bay for "greener" pastures does someone like wide receiver Romeo Doubs need to realize that he might be better off sticking with the Packers?

The Packers suspended Doubs for "conduct detrimental to the team" as it was reported that Doubs was skipping practices and meetings leading up to Green Bay's Week 5 win on the road against the Los Angeles Rams. This, oddly, is not the first time that the Packers have imposed a suspension on one of their own players in recent years. Cornerback Jaire Alexander was suspended last season.

Doubs's situation doesn't automatically mean the Packers are going to trade him to the highest bidder in the coming weeks, nor does it mean they are guaranteed to get rid of him in the 2025 offseason. But the Packers could rather easily replace a player like Doubs in the 2025 NFL Draft, and that's an option we're going to explore in this Packers-focused mock draft.

Packers land Romeo Doubs replacement in 2025 mock draft

Round 1: Shavon Revel, CB, East Carolina

The NFL world is going to be monitoring the recovery process of East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel with great intrigue in the coming months. Revel was on pace to become a possible top-10 overall pick before suffering a season-ending knee injury a few weeks ago, cutting short an outstanding collegiate career and potentially muddying the waters of his NFL projection.

The Packers are currently projected to land the 18th overall pick, which we know is going to change plenty in the coming weeks, and I think the later they are picking in Round 1, the more a player like Revel makes sense for them.

The Packers sort of inexplicably passed on the cornerback position for almost the entire 2024 NFL Draft, and this could be a nice investment for them at a key position, even if there's some delayed gratification.

Round 2: Elic Ayomanor, WR, Stanford

If Romeo Doubs doesn't want to play for the Green Bay Packers, they will just replace him with another rookie contract player.

Doubs has done a fine job of out-playing his draft status as a fourth-round pick up to this point, but he's not irreplaceable. The Packers can find good help at the receiver position at just about any juncture of the 2025 NFL Draft, and I love the idea of this team getting Elic Ayomanor in Round 2.

Ayomanor is a big-bodied receiver with strong hands who is crafty as a route-runner. We'll see if he meets Green Bay's athletic thresholds, but he could be a nice fit to potentially replace a player like Doubs if the Packers ultimately decide to go that direction.

Round 3: Tai Felton, WR, Maryland

The Packers certainly don't have to double up at the receiver position in next year's draft, but for the purposes of this exercise, let's have some fun and say they do. The Packers have been known to double (or triple) up at certain positions in the NFL Draft in recent years, and there might be a chance they do it at receiver in 2025.

With Doubs potentially getting replaced and Christian Watson once again dealing with injuries here in his third NFL season, Green Bay could reset the clock on a couple of rookie contract guys to go with Jayden Reed and Dontayvion Wicks.

Tai Felton is having an outstanding season for Maryland, averaging over 128 yards per game and 14 yards per reception. He's got tremendous ball skills and knows how to make a play when he gets the ball in his hands. I think he's exactly the type of player Packers GM Brian Gutekunst and head coach Matt LaFleur will target at the position.
