Packers' next kicker might have just left the building after Week 6 win vs. Cardinals

The perfect Brayden Narveson replacement also played at Lambeau Field in Week 6.

Another week, another missed kick for Brayden Narveson. Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur again expressed confidence in his rookie kicker after Week 6, but it's time for the team to make a change.

Narveson has missed five field goals in six games, all closer than 50 yards. He has officially missed five, but it would be six had it not been for a holding penalty on the Tennessee Titans in Week 3.

Not only is Narveson still missing kicks, but he is repeating the same mistake of pushing them wide right. Having patience in a young kicker is understandable, but at what point will the Packers realize enough is enough? They went through the same issues with Anders Carlson last season, and it ended up hurting them in the playoffs.

Green Bay can't keep hoping for the best and accepting a missed kick every week. The NFC North is the most competitive division in the league, with all four teams competing for playoff spots. Missed kicks could end up costing the Packers when it matters the most.

If they move on from Narveson, who could replace him? A potential target was also kicking at Lambeau Field in Week 6.

Cardinals kicker may have auditioned for Packers' job in Week 6 matchup

While Narveson missed another kick for the Packers, Chad Ryland was perfect for the Cardinals.

So, why is that significant, you might ask? Well, the Packers hosted Ryland for a tryout two weeks ago before he signed with the Cardinals. Arizona brought him in as short-term cover for veteran Matt Prater, who is dealing with a knee injury.

Prater practiced all week and could soon return, which presumably will make Ryland available again.

In two games for Arizona, Ryland has converted five of six field goals, and his only miss was blocked, which was not his fault. He has also made both extra-point tries. Is Ryland perfect? Almost certainly not, but he has provided reliability for the Cardinals without Prater.

Added bonus? He made it look easy in wet conditions at Lambeau Field, something Narveson couldn't do.

The Packers should've signed him when they had the chance—he was literally in the building two weeks ago. If and when Ryland becomes available, don't be surprised if Green Bay makes a move. On Sunday, he put in a perfect audition in front of LaFleur and Brian Gutekunst.
