David Bakhtiari sends emotional message to Jordan Love after injury vs. Eagles
The Green Bay Packers will make the long journey home from Sao Paulo to Wisconsin, trying to come to terms with what just happened.
They can blame themselves for not putting the Philadelphia Eagles away when they had the chance, but the biggest concern is with the status of Jordan Love. The league's highest-paid quarterback exited the game in a lot of pain late in the fourth quarter, having already dealt with a calf issue.
Head coach Matt LaFleur shut down questions about Love's injury in his postgame press conference, but his cryptic answer only added to the concern among the fanbase.
While Packers fans collectively hope for good news, five-time All-Pro David Bakhtiari sent a message to his former quarterback.
David Bakhtiari reacts to Jordan Love's injury vs. Eagles in Week 1
A five-time All-Pro on the field and a great person off it, Bakhtiari will forever be a Packer. Following the game, he took to social media to send an emotional message to Love.
It's a classy message from Bakhtiari, and not surprising. That's the type of person he is.
Bakhtiari, like the rest of us, hopes for the best. The Packers' season rests on Love's availability. If it's a short-term issue he can play through, Green Bay will have a chance to stay in NFC North contention alongside the Detroit Lions. Even missing a few games would give the Packers enough time to make a playoff push down the stretch.
Hopefully, Love avoided a significant injury that would end the Packers' season before it even had a chance to get going.
Love finished the game 17/34 for 260 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. There was plenty to build on, but the top concern is the severity of his injury.
