Xavier McKinney's postgame comments add fuel to the Jaire Alexander-Stefon Diggs beef
*30 for 30 voice* What if I told you that Jaire Alexander had beef with someone?
In probably the least surprising news of any NFL game in Week 7, Alexander made some pre-game headlines when he and Houston Texans wide receiver Stefon Diggs got into a bit of a yelling match before the game.
Alexander and Diggs go way, way back – all the way to when Diggs was a young player with the Minnesota Vikings – so there's plenty of precedent (if you want to call it that?) for their beef. Today was really more of just a maintenance update.

But, for whatever reason, the two were jawing once again on Sunday. And really do you even need a reason?! Diggs told reporters after the game that he heard Alexander 'chirping' at him while Diggs was running to the Texans' locker room, and that he responded to the Packers' corner because he's 'never the bigger person,' which is an objectively hilarious reason to get in a pregame fight.
The Packers and Alexander got the last laugh, as Diggs posted just 23 receiving yards.
But here's the fun twist: Alexander's getting his teammates involved now! When talking with reporters after the game, safety Xavier McKinney said that he doesn't like Diggs either – and the reason is equal parts silly and inspiring. Football beef!

Xavier McKinney, however, said this on the beef between Jaire and Diggs.
"I'm with 2-3 every time. I'm with my guys and we gon' ride together and that's just what it is. So if he don't like him, then I don't like him. That's what it is."
This is great. This is what football's all about. You know you have a good teammate when he's just randomly getting in on longstanding beef for no reason. And honestly, "my guy doesn't like him, so I don't like him" is the sign of not only a good teammate, but a good friend. It's like that scene in The Town where Ben Affleck and his brother go rob someone, but the football version.
This entire interaction just makes me miss the days when Alexander and Diggs lined up across from each other twice a year. It's probably for the best that Diggs isn't really the Packers' problem anymore, but still – nostalgia is a powerful thing.
What's most important is that Alexander – along the rest of the Packers' secondary, apparently – needs to find someone new to beef with. Hope he's up to the task!
